A fashion photographer
Mousganistan. A naturally born movement, of his ideas, of his work. A unique universe that feeds his first solo exhibition. Mous Lamrabat is an atypical character, a photographer who mixes, confronts, opposes, assembles images and aesthetics of the Western world with those of Morocco. This duality, Mous Lamrabat already wears in him. Moroccan of origin, born in the north of the country, he lives in Belgium since his childhood.

Mousganistan. Un mouvement né naturellement, de ses idées, de son travail. Un univers unique qui alimente sa première exposition solo. Mous Lamrabat est un personnage atypique, un photographe qui mélange, confronte, oppose, marie les images et l’esthétique du monde occidental avec celles du Maroc. Cette dualité, Mous Lamrabat la porte déjà en lui. Marocain d’origine, né au nord du pays, il vit en Belgique depuis l’enfance.
Art is not part of its family heritage but Mous Lamrabat is rapidly developing this fiber and interest. He looks for creativity that surrounds and quickly starts artistic studies. He could have worked as an interior designer but his career takes him to fashion photography. Mous Lamrabat learns by himself and excels. It is from this artistic spectrum and medium that he creates his own world.
L’art ne fait pas partie de son héritage familial mais Mous Lamrabat développe rapidement la fibre, l’intérêt. Il cherche la créativité qui l’entoure si bien qu’il se dirige d’emblée vers des études artistiques. Il aurait pu travailler en tant que designer d’intérieur mais son parcours l’emmène vers la photographie de mode. Mous Lamrabat apprend par lui-même et excelle. C’est d’ailleurs à partir de ce spectre artistique et de ce medium qu’il crée son propre monde.
An artist photographer
His photographic style began during a trip to Morocco with stylist Lisa Lapauw. The outfits to photograph are missing … so they dive into the bazaars to find something to feed their photographs. The beginning of his exploration is here … That of leaving Moroccan objects out of their daily lives. Those we no longer notice, that we no longer look at. Mous Lamrabat hijacks or rather enhances. In his photographs, he presents Moroccan everyday objects and makes them artistic, offbeat. Its goal: to show the omnipresent art, the inherent creativity of each culture, the beauty of the ethnic groups. Shocking? This is not his goal. Rather, it is about humor, the positive message and optimism. A driving line for this photographer who always highlights these four inherent minorities: “I am Moroccan, Muslim, African and the world sees me as Arab. As a person or artist, I always represent these four minorities without having a choice”.
Un photographe artiste
Son style photographique débute lors d’un voyage au Maroc avec la styliste Lisa Lapauw. Les tenues à photographier manquent… alors ils plongent dans les bazars pour trouver de quoi alimenter leurs photographies. Le début de son exploration est là… Celle de sortir des objets marocains de leur quotidien. Ceux que l’on ne remarque plus, que l’on ne regarde plus. Mous Lamrabat détourne ou plutôt met en valeur. Dans ses clichés, il présente des objets du quotidien marocain et les rend artistiques, décalés. Son but : montrer l’art omniprésent, la créativité inhérente de chaque culture, la beauté des ethnies. Choquant ? Tel n’est pas son objectif. Il vise plutôt l’humour, le message positif et l’optimisme. Une ligne de conduire pour ce photographe qui souligne toujours ces quatre minorités inhérentes : « je suis marocain, musulman, africain et le monde me voit comme arabe. En tant que personne ou artiste, je représente toujours ces quatre minorités sans en avoir le choix ».
